Joel Burns tells gay teens “it gets better”

Joel Burns, a Fort Worth Texas city councilman, directs his comments to young GLBT persons urging them not to commit suicide.

Regardless of your beliefs regarding the origin of homosexuality, I think all can agree that bullying and suicide are destructive to our society.

Joel advocates two things that we should all remember.

“Being 13 years old is tough. Take the hand of a 13 year old and show them that life gets better. Tell them, please live long enough to see it.”

and

“Mom and Dad, I am alive today because you love me”

Let’s remember to show our love to those who may be different from ourselves, whether they are part of your immediate family or not.
